Trail location: 7 km N of Princeton; 2WD usually OK. Type: Untracked; Snowmobile tracks; Road. Rating: Novice. The loop option is Intermediate. Trail Distance: As far as you want to go; it can be 10 or more km one way; loop option is about 16 km total, and requires two vehicles. Access: Drive north on Highway 5A to top of first hill; turn LEFT on Airport Road; after Airport, turn RIGHT on (East) china Creek Road. 0 km---beginning of China Creek Road. 2.25 km---junction; stay LEFT. 3 km---for loop option, leave one vehicle here. 5 km---road is plowed for a short distance beyond sign; park. Trail: The trail is a logging road which continues on gently rolling terrain for many kilometres, with km markers to 18 km. Although this is a popular snowmobile route, there are not usually enough machines to be intrusive. Loop option: You have left one vehicle at the 3 km spot, and have proceeded to 5 km. Ski about 100 metres past the 10 km marker, watching for the "10 KM" painted in red on a tree to your left. This marks a trail heading down the hill for about 4 km where it connects with the Asp Creek Trail at the creek. (See "Asp (China) Creek Trail") This trail can be a gentle, pleasant cruise in fresh snow, or a challenge to your snowplowing ability if the snowmobile track is icy. Return on the Asp Creek Trail to the trailhead at the 3 km marker. |
