Bicycle touring France. The
first folks we met in France were an elderly couple named Ange
and Jacqueline. Ange came over and introduced himself to us after
peering out his third storey window and seeing us outside a local
bike repair shop. He smiled pleasantly and informed us we would
be waiting quite some time... it was All Saint's Day and everything
in France was closed. Even the restaurants. He invited us home
for lunch, and we ended up staying for supper and then breakfast
the following morning. When it was time for us to leave, both
Ange and his wife came out to see us off. They posed for a farewell
picture in front of a canal that flowed placidly in front of
their house. A few ducks glided amongst the leaf-filled canal.
Ange quacked in perfect imitation, and his feathered friends
paddled over for a gander. |
