While bicycle touring in Ireland,
we camped overnight in this chap's paddock. It rained so hard
during the night, he and his dog, Sailor, came down in the morning
to make sure we hadn't washed away. When he saw our sodden tent,
he took the opportunity to give us an Irish weather lesson: "See
those mountains over there?" he asked, pointing to the half-enshrouded
hills behind us. "Well, if you can't see the mountains,
that means it's raining," he astutely informed us. "And,
if you can see the mountains," he resolutely continued,
"that means it's going to rain!" Ah, Ireland. I was
beginning to understand why it was so green. |
