Bike Touring Journals by Neil Anderson and Sharon Anderson Bicycle touring journals
May 26 Friday totally overcast not that great for bicycle touring Holland
We look out our bicycle touring tent door and decide to wait for things to dry out a bit. We're down to half a bottle of water. Sharon makes a big pot of spaghetti. I'm amazed at how she is able to do so with so little water. Later, I find out she used the jar of pickle juice, too. (Just so I couldn't drink it, I suppose. Hey -- pickle juice tastes better than the shepherd's wine we sampled on our Sardinia bicycle tour -- by a long shot.)
I lay in the tent reading Ngaio Marsh's "Death and the Dancing Footman." Interestingly, just as the murder occurs, a large flock of crows flies overhead and land in the trees above our tent, cawing, and raising an all out ruckus for ten minutes straight. And, of course, we all know a bunch of crows are called a murder of crows.
More forgotten things remembered: I know I'm still dog-tired when I wake up and my first thought is: "Maybe I can slip in a nap this afternoon."
Sharon looks beautiful.
