Bike Touring Journals by Neil Anderson and Sharon Anderson Bicycle touring journals
June 22 Thursday sunny Bicycle touring England
Rest day. Read and worked on the bikes. Sharon replaced her brakes. We've had quite a few hills on this bicycle tour -- especially in Italy's Tuscany area.
I repaired my bicycle touring pannier covers.
Alastair's bike wasn't switching onto his low gear. With Sharon's help, we rectified that situation. We set his bike computer to the correct time and put in a new bolt to hold it in the correct handlebar position.
Later that evening, Sharon and I caught a ride with Terry and Joyce to the Red Lion pub in Little Missenden.
Terry plays squeeze box for a local Morris dancing group. The members have bells on their knees that jingle as they dance while waving hankies or knocking wood sticks together. Cracking the sticks together looks a little dangerous to one's knuckles -- especially after a few pints of beer!
Later, we moved indoors to sing. Sharon and I were enjoying our first British pub. Kids and dogs welcome. Big old beams. Duck and trout pond out back. Had my first pint of bitter.
Alastair and Bruni stopped by to pick us up as Sharon and I want to get an early departure tomorrow to continue our England bicycle tour.
The drive back to Alastair and Bruni's home in Tring Station was along narrow one-lane winding roads -- the width of a normal bike path back home in Edmonton Alberta.
