September 17 Sunday Bicycle touring Germany
The family we are impromptu staying with, their son Frank goes to university in Munich. He was doing time measurements for the German Olympic bobsled team. At the end of practice one day the participants kidded him. "For fun, why don't you give it a try?" Frank did. And he was faster than anyone else on the team. Now he is on the German bobsled team in the next Olympics.
Our new family packed us some more cheesecake before sending us on our way in the morning. They presented us with their address. "It's good as a coupon for more cheesecake whenever you come back."
We thank them for their fine hospitality to foreign cycle tourist.
As we pedal off on our fully loaded touring bicycles, Sharon says, "That was the best water stop we've had in two years."
The town hall, or Rathaus, in Regnitzlosau, Germany, has many beautiful window flowerpots.
We pedalled away from Regnitzlosau and entered a forest park. The scenery was great. We found some little used roads to cycle tour on. Even the white roads on our map have been in good shape in the western part of Germany. No sand.As we cycled along, we spotted a hiking path leading off into the trees by a stream. We pulled our touring bikes in there for the night. Lots of leaves have fallen.
