October 11 Wednesday totally overcast Bicycle touring Germany
Well we're in Augsburg, Germany, and it's not sunny. You just can't trust military intelligence nowadays.
Augsburg's market sure was colourful. There were flower sellers with scads of orange and yellow blooms. Vegetable sellers with carrots, potatoes, and veggies I wasn't sure of.
I took a picture of an old woman with a kerchief on her head proudly selling her vegetables. A wrinkled old man with a sunny disposition waved bunches of gladiolas around.
The Rathaus had a spectacular gold ceiling. In one of the rooms there was an artist's display of scenes made from embroidery. The texture made the scenes seem three dimensional.
There was a pan pipe band from Peru giving a street demonstration of their talents. As the band played, another member held up CDs for the crowd to purchase.
Martin and Karen were happy to see us. They have two sons, David and Matthew, who are German ping pong champions. Martin is a puppeteer. He has a Mac computer. I had a chance to show him a couple of Mac tricks before we pedalled off the next morning.
