August 16 Tuesday Bicycle touring Roblin Manitoba
The wind is ferocious, howling straight out of the east. It looks like this would make a good rest day. I can hang around and rest my tired legs and sore butt muscles. I have another shower.
I go to the store and buy bagfuls of groceries. Then we hit the bakery for cinnamon knots and Bismarcks. I return to camp and read, listen to the radio, and nap. The lake is being aerated so the fish don't winter kill. It makes for a lot of racket from the pump house which is not conducive to sleeping.
Around 5 PM we are struck with an insatiable craving for nachos. We check at the information booth for appropriate eateries. Unfortunately Roblin hasn't gone Mexican yet. Despite having five restaurants, not one of them serve nachos. We walk to the Co-op and buy all of the fixins needed to make our own nachos.
Under the picnic shelter we have an incredible nacho feast. The sky has been threatening all day but only a few drops of rain have fallen so far. We put our bikes under the roof on the opposite side of the picnic shelter, just in case the storm clouds decide to get serious. We go to bed early.
Around 9:30 PM a father and four kids show up for a marshmallow roast. The father's only line to the misbehaving kids is, "Stop that or we'll go home right now!" Needless to say it isn't very effective and they don't go home right now. Kids are wise to charismatic leadership. Sharon keeps muttering "I wish it would rain harder."
