September 15 Thursday Bicycle touring from Mt Pleasant Ontario to Etobicoke Ontario
I phoned Michelle to get directions to her place in Etobicoke. We rode our fully loaded touring bicycles along backroads, except for a short stint on Hwy 6 when we overshot our turnoff and ended up in Flamborough Centre. We had to turn our little bicycles around and backtrack to get onto Hwy 25 which went straight. Around 3 PM, it got busy and we nearly got ourselves and our bikes run over by a truck on the narrow road. At 5 PM, the rush hour traffic was in full swing. We stopped at a Mr Sub to eat, hoping that during the break the traffic would die down.
We left Mr Sub at 6 PM. It took us an hour and a half to ride our bikes to Michelle's. When we got there, we found a note saying she had gone out to look at a new apartment. I called Glynn (Michelle's brother) from a pay phone outside a convenience store.
Michelle returned and we got my miscommunication mess straightened out. I had said to her we were going to visit, but hadn't made it clear that we wanted to stay for a couple of days. We are staying at her place. We are supposed to see Glynn and his fiancée, Lisa, on Saturday. The apartment where Michelle lives has mainly retired people, so it is really quiet. Just what we need after a hard day of bicycle touring and so many near-misses.
