February 19 Sunday Bicycle touring Italy Sardinia from Ossi Sardinia to a forestry hut high in the mountains past Oschiri Sardegna
We arise as early as decently possible on a Sunday. After hot chocolate, we grab our fully loaded touring bicycles from the garage and hit the road. At Santa Trinita church we pull our touring bicycles to a stop to eat oranges. No shepherds molest, rape, or murder us.
We cycle the long way toward Oschiri, after learning that the festival in Tempio on the 26th is more like the Rio de Janeiro carnival, than a traditional Sardegna. More bad info from Sal. We change our bicycle touring course. We decide to see the traditional Sartiglia festival in Oristano on the same date.
The climb on our fully loaded touring bicycles is brutal, but great mountain scenery. We come across a small forestry building on top of a ridge. There's a spectacular panoramic view into the valleys. There is a deck on the backside of the building. We pitch our lightweight bicycle touring tent on the leeward side of the building. Strong gusts whip around the building and shake our tent, threatening to lift us off the platform and swoosh us and our bicycle touring gear into the valley far below.
Going to Oschiri four white dogs chased me for a kilometre snarling and baring their fangs. I tried to pepper spray them, but most of the spray hit my rubber glove finger. Drat."I'm a chic zombie." When people don't know much English where do they come up with these phrases? Sal killed us with laughter as he slicked back his hair and said it again.
