Bike Touring Journals by Neil Anderson and Sharon Anderson Bicycle touring journals
wackos catch us because we are so slow.
In a couple of kilometres we cycle upon a forest. Sharon says they don't know how to grow forests here. A few trees are planted in rows. We see a path into a thicket and set up our cycle touring tent amongst the brambles. The sharp thorns soon have me cursing and spurting blood.
For supper Sharon boils carrots and potatoes and fries some spicy sausage. For dessert we try a chocolate fondue with bananas and strawberries. A Whisperlite blowtorch for a cycle touring cook stove is not the easiest to use for fondues.
We have set up our compact cycle touring tent on a path between the brambles. Something just came along in the darkness and tripped over a fly string and slid down the fly. It probably thought the same thing I just did: What the hell was that?
