These government-protected Ochre Bluffs on the Princeton - Coalmont KVR Rail Trail. In days' past, Natives throughout southern BC and northern Washington traveled miles to trade with Upper Similkameen Natives for the ochre's intense red pigment. The location of the bluffs was a well-guarded secret (in fact, members of the Lower Similkameen Indian Band didn't know their location until the rail trail was in use). |
