Bicycle touring New Zealand. New Zealand's drop-dead gorgeous scenery is tough to beat. With the Southern Alps as a backdrop, we pedalled blissfully under a visible daytime moon. Both the North and South Islands are long, narrow, bodies of land that stretch from 34 to 47 degrees south latitude, accounting, no doubt, for the huge variation in temperatures and vegetation found within this small ocean-bounded country. In one day we cycled from a semi-arid region to snow-peaked mountains. |
