We hyperventilated our way up the steep road, conquering the top just before dusk. In the rapidly chilling air and stiffening breeze, wondering what we had gotten ourselves into, we came across a ski hut. Good fortune had smiled on us! I heaved open the door. There on the threshold, a previous occupant had thoughtfully left a bottle of beer. What a country! |
