While bicycle touring New Zealand
we rode up to a waterfall on New Zealand's South Island, we were
surprised to see two gray-haired oldsters climbing out of the
water. Dick and Aaf, two retired Netherlanders, were hearty souls
not phased by frigid water -- or tortuous climbs. Their packs
were stuffed to the brim and their bikes weighed a ton, but they
could still outride most cyclists 40 years their junior. We cycled
with them for two weeks, and were inspired by their physical
stamina and spunky personalities. |
