| While bicycle touring in Oregon we learned that a percentage of road taxes are allocated to transportation improvements for cyclists. The results are wonderful features like this lit tunnel. When a cyclist approaches a tunnel, she presses a button at its entrance to turn on lights inside the tunnel, and a bike sign over the tunnel's entrance is activated, flashing four amber lights warning motorists there are cyclists in the tunnel. Very bike-friendly indeed! Well done, Oregon! |
