Bike Touring Journals by Neil Anderson and Sharon Anderson Bicycle touring Greece
Marathon
Free movies in the theatre! The only problem was that they were subtitled in Greek. That meant the soundtrack was turned way down and the Greeks talked to one another during the movie because it didn't matter if they could hear the words or not. I spent most of the movie looking at subtitles and trying to figure out the Greek alphabet.
We watched four movies on our voyage. More than we had seen in the last year and a half. It wasn't a ferry ride to Greece. It was a floating movie marathon.
I noticed the Greeks had a little difficulty with presentation of English: The fancy menu in the ferry's dining room read: "Soup of the Chef."
In the middle of the night we docked briefly in Corfu. Sharon and I went deckside to watch. The huge Citadel sat imposingly on a hill with floodlights playing on its walls. We took on more passengers and upped the passenger to crew ration to almost one to one.
