January 22 Sunday Bicycle touring Italy from St Andria Prui Sardinia to Burgos Sardegna
I took a picture of the burial caves -- or a small section of them. There are lots of caves scattered among the rock faces. I tried to persuade two grazing horses to participate in a picture combining two high slots cut into the rocks about coffin-size, but the horses were not interested in being stars. Thought maybe they could be night mares.
We can't decide where to go next, so we jump on our fully loaded touring bicycles and head off with the wind. I have always wanted to do that. Soon we are laboriously pumping uphill and things quickly warm up.
We climb to 3000 feet. Great view. We go into Burgos Forest. We come around a corner and far below we see a castle built on a mountain.
We coast on our fully loaded touring bicycles down a long ways to Burgos. I am still carrying garbage from last night plus another bag of bottles and cans I picked up from around our campsite. I have lugged it all uphill for 33 kilometres now without finding one garbage can. And they wonder why tourists chuck stuff into the ditches? Although they can't blame tourists for the multitudes of washers, TVs and old autos littering the roadside and thrown over cliff edges.
We cycle downhill farther and we are looking way up to the castle. We climbed a lot today on our bicycle tour. We bicycle south and find a spot by a river. From the road we can look across and see the castle far away. We are back in some cork trees.
