Just Trying To Be Helpful
With Bruni looking on Alistair watered window box pansies, prior to his departure. He was halfway down the lane still calling out good cheer and best wishes for a safe trip and wishing Mom's speedy recovery. God speed. Bruni's first client for the day arrived and we were left to pack up.
Sharon and I headed for another look at that poppy field. Wading into the midst of them we took some pictures. Then we followed B4009 southwest towards Stonehenge. In a small town I left Sharon and pedalled off to find a deserted spot to take a leak. A fellow cyclist approached. "Are you looking for someone?" he asked. "I saw another loaded cyclist just at the bottom of the lane," he said, trying to be helpful. "Where are you trying to go?" he asked.
I told him where we were headed and he gave me detailed directions. Thanking him, off I pedalled, my bladder about to burst. I should have said I was looking for a pee spot.
I exchanged left over lira and francs for pounds. The commission was $10. We had a long steep climb out of town and I broke into a sweat for the first time in weeks. It was tough but I finally made it to the top. No heart attack. The wind blew behind us keeping things cool, but in the sun my thermometer read thirty-four degrees Celsius. We headed to a canola field for lunch.
Near the end of the day in Newbury the Sainsbury food store had hot water in the washroom. Sharon wiped up. We headed west, crossing under the busy road on a pedestrian pedway. We were quickly into the countryside and headed for a stand of trees. Sharon pushed through an opening and disappeared. I followed.
